African Shield Mirror Design With MudCloth and Cowrie Cross
Our latest original handmade African shield mirror design using a Cameroon tribal wooden shield and adorned with original Mali Mudcloth and cowrie shells.
Traditionally these shields were used as defensive weapons and also as decorative or ritual objects, which in Cameroon symbolise status and wealth. Hand carved from one piece of wood and decorated by large groups of locals making up the Tikar Tribe makes each shield a unique piece. The shields are no longer used in battle and are used for cultural customs and rites. A beautiful interior decoration art piece for the home.
This authentic mudcloth comes from Mali and is a handmade fabric that is traditionally dyed with mud and leaves. These mud cloths are made from strips of the fabric which are put together to form one large "blanket".
Choose the colour mudcloth you would like and we will confirm the cloth pattern before commencing production of any orders.
Comes with fitting at back of shield for wall display. Optional metal and wood base display stand avaiable.
