Tribal Shield with Kuba Cloth and Cowrie Shells
Our latest original handmade African shield design using a Cameroon tribal wooden shield and adorned with Congo Kuba cloth and cowrie shells in our studio in Cape Town, South Africa.
Traditionally these shields were used as defensive weapons and also as decorative or ritual objects, which in Cameroon symbolise status and wealth. Hand carved from one piece of wood and decorated by large groups of locals making up the Tikar Tribe makes each shield a unique piece. The shields are no longer used in battle and are used for cultural customs and rites. A beautiful interior decoration art piece for the home.
As kuba cloth is all different we cannot guarantee design of cloth will be the same as the reference images. We will confirm the cloth pattern with you before processing an order.
Comes with fitting at back of shield for wall display. Optional wood and metal display stand avaiable.
Size: +-50-55cm, 21.5"
