Burkina Faso is known as the land of masks; and we know why looking at their unique designs and artistic detail
This one of a kind "mask" or "shield" is traditionally used by the Bobo tribe. These are worn by the men in the tribe as a dance mask or covering along with raffia costumes.
Like most of their masks and shields these are covered with complex compositions of angular patterns and geometric shapes in this case to express the male strength. The Bedou mask is used mainly during initiation ceremonies paired with female masks.
